NHASTA Annual Meeting April 13, 2024
The annual meeting NHASTA will be held on Saturday April 13th at 9:00 am. We will review reports from the year’s event and vote to accept all reports. We will present the annual String Teacher of the Year Award and The Young String Teacher of The Year Award
In addition we will be hosting a 2 hour workshop presented by Ellen Carlson, Director the NH Fiddle Ensemble and Acoustic Roots Orchestra. This workshop is free to all members. This is a great time to reconnect with others in our field and also learn new skills.
The meeting and workshop will be held at the Manchester Community Music School. Free for all ASTA/NHASTA Members. RSVP by April 1, 2024 to nhastapresident@gmail.com
Workshop Details: The NH Fiddle Ensemble, in its 15th year, is a unique, community-based organization that encourages, teaches, and creates opportunities for musicians of all ages to broaden their musical horizons. Members learn to play different styles of music and are offered various creative avenues to explore; such as improvisation, soloing, tune arrangement, and singing; all within a supportive group environment.
The Acoustic Roots Orchestra is the young members of the group organized to play on their own. With about 30 members, this group seeks concerts to showcase their talents and encourage more young people to learn skills that will last a lifetime and keep them playing with others.
Music is taught by ear — the traditional way of learning roots music and an excellent way to develop strong musicianship skills — build good intonation, phrasing, and better listening. This program is for all acoustic instruments.
Melissa Bragdon Caron & Ellen Carlson will share their methods for bringing people of all ages and levels together for excellent quality concerts. Bring your instrument!
